I was checking up on the progress of Hyundai's 'N' division—a new, performance-oriented division of the company that Hyundai announced last year. I was pretty excited for this as the big rumor was that Hyundai was going to release a roadgoing version of the i20 WRC car as the first model for this brand.
My results were kind of disappointing as no announcement has been made regarding the first vehicle to get the N treatment, but there was some other interesting news.

Hyundai poached the chief ///M engineer from BMW to head performance car design for both Hyundai and Kia. Biermann will be working in Namyang at the N headquarters.
Also, Hyundai has thrown a ton of money into a testing facility on-site at the Nurburgring.

I'm personally hoping we get a rally i20 (n20?) and a V8 Genesis Coupe, along with that GT4 Stinger concept with a 2.0 turbo that Kia threw out a few years ago.

An N Gen Coupe would be great. Or maybe a batshit Veloster. Seriously, if they put the Gen Coupe's 2.0T (lambda I believe) in the Veloster I'd be all about it. It would really put it up there with the Abarth's, FiSTs and Sanic RS's.

This was my thought exactly.
I cross shopped the VT before I bought my Focus. I liked the interior and loved the exterior look of it. However, it felt really weak compared to everything else in its class and the tuning ceiling is pretty low, from what I've read.
I would have bought it in a heartbeat if they had dropped the 2.0t into it with the 275 hp/tq. That would be a beast of a car.

Hyundai has been serious since at least the Genesis.
We'll see what's next for them. This really is the beginning for them in making competitive cars like this and they will only get better at it
If Kia made that GT4 Stinger as it was at the show it would be what everyone wanted from the FRS.

I think the latest Genesis Coupe has been a solid effort, but just not quite at the level of some of its competitors—namely the Mustang GT.
Kia basically needs to make the Stinger, throw in the 2.0t from the Genesis Coupe, and then keep the weight below 3,000 pounds. That thing would be awesome.

Well there are people catching a model refresh for the Genesis that is slightly larger, more like a Mustang sized car, but otherwise is near the same outwardly. Speculation is that it may get a larger engine. Who knows though.
The Stinger is what they really need to make. They should put the Optima race car engine in it too that they had in the concept. That engine is basically identical to the engine in the Evo X including the semi closed deck.
